Para Bench Press

The Para Bench Press is a modification of the Bench Press in which purposefully designed equipment allows disabled athletes to train and compete. As with the Bench Press, Para Bench Press involves pushing a loaded barbell away from the upper chest until the elbows are fully locked out. A wide oblique overhand grip is used whilst lying supine on a flat bench. The exercise tests upper body strength, targeting the lower chest muscles while engaging the muscles of the shoulders, arms, and upper chest. Requiring strength, power, and coordination, top Para Powerlifters are able to lift two or even three times their own body weight. SAM has one of the very few competition standard para benches in France.
